My family and I purchased a puppy, Cooper, from Silver Mountain Shepherds in 2005. What initially led us in the direction of Silver Mountain Shepherds was the desire to own a silver / black colored German Shepherd. We found the web site via an internet search. The site was well planned with good information and pictures.
We had two minor concerns; the fact that SMS is located in Idaho, we live in Southern California and the puppies are not AKC reregistered. We called SMS and had a very enjoyable and informative conversation with Paul. After the call, the two concerns were completely eliminated. Paul informed us that he had a very safe and reliable method of transporting puppies to other states. He emailed us many pictures of the available puppies to assist us in choosing. The pictures gave us the feeling that the puppies were cared for in a very ideal environment with lots of room. The conversation with Paul also eliminated our desire to own an AKC registered puppy – Paul’s word meant more to us than the paper. We could sense his vast love and knowledge of German Shepherds.
We have owned German Shepherds the majority of our lives, some registered and some not, and know the makings of a good dog – Cooper exceeded our expectations greatly, more than words can explain.
This year (2010) we decided to purchase another puppy from SMS. Paul and Ann were extremely helpful – they made the entire process of picking and receiving our puppy fun and comfortable. We know that we can contact Paul or Ann at any hour with any type of question. It is comforting to know that expert help is a phone call or email away. Our puppy, Grady, is doing great at 14 weeks. The training is going very well; he heads for the door when he needs to go out, he loves his daily walks and really enjoys chasing tennis balls.
